Users,

What is the cleanest way to reinstall SuperCollider? I have installed
CrucialLib in my 3.4 SC install, and I think it may have broken it.

Thanks,
Sample

It's not easy to answer this without knowing what operating system you're using.

It's very unlikely you need to reinstall SC - just delete CrucialLib
(I'm assuming you downloaded it as a quark and installed it, and
that's what you want to remove). Removing a quark is easy, just find
wherever you installed it and delete the folder that contains the
quark files (e.g. .........../SuperCollider/quarks/cruciallib)

In case somebody stumbles across this thread later -- I recall some icky bugs with quarks that could occur if users monkey around with the quarks *checkout* directory (.../SuperCollider/quarks/*).

You can manually uninstall a quark by deleting its *symbolic link* from Extensions/quarks (that's all, really, that Quarks.uninstall does).

And of course, as in the other thread* yesterday about quarks, DON'T download quarks and put them right into Extensions! If you're going to hack around behind the back of the built-in Quarks interface, then it's worth a few minutes to understand the directory structure first.

cruciallib is already in 3.4 SC so you should not install it a second time.

It was moved to an individual quark after that release.

Unfortunately there is some bug in that version of SC itself that causes it
to crash while compiling.
Its not any fault of cruciallib, its a bug in that version of SC in how it
deals with duplicate classes and duplicate method extensions.

As Dan said, just open up your Extensions/quarks folder and remove
cruciallib

If you had tried to install cruciallib using the Quarks.gui it would have
warned you and prevented you from doing so.

Users,

I'll just uninstall the Quark then, and I'm on Mac OSX 10.6.

I read this,
"
Cruciallib is built into 3.4 and it will break your installation if you
install the quark.

In 3.5, it's no longer built in and then you'll have to install the quark.

"
and then I had an issue with SC (local server wasn't booting), and I
thought I should reinstall.

Thanks,
