Inspirational projects

I am teaching an introductory workshop on supercollider, and I'd like to
start off by playing some examples of works created with the help of
supercollider (e.g., code, videos, music, installations, sonifications,
auditory displays, and so on).

If there is anyone on the list who would like to share links (or code
snippets) of their favorite works in this thread I would be most
appreciative.

Best,
Corey

Hey Corey,

Well don’t know if you call this inspirational, but is an example of external interaction with SC. Video is here: https://vimeo.com/87510975

Hi Corey,

In the same spirit (you may have students interested in NIMEs), this
sponge duet was performed last June:

https://vimeo.com/100033154

SuperCollider takes care of all the sounds and the mapping. The same
goes for all the sponge pieces on my Vimeo page.

Cheers,
Martin

The sound portion of this was all SuperCollider, and mostly live with one
or two recorded sections.
It was a biggie - 2 computers, 40 speakers, and a good 8-10k lines of code
all told?

I'm not sure if video is still readily available online, but I worked on
this modern dance piece a few years ago. 45 minutes of music, all running
continuously in SC.

This project by Jeremy Keenan uses sc in a really imaginative way:

here is my work "Hyle" for live electronics and female singer, performing
also on a Shuukaze, created entirely with Supercollider.

That was the premiere, which was... let's just say, "seat of the pants."
Later performances were better; I made some improvements in the music for
those.

Just mentioning lest anyone think that was the definitive performance...

First week of classes (last week) I showed James' minimalist Dave Brubeck
piece (Blue Rondo phase) - it's short and sounds great:

https://soundcloud.com/dewdrop_world/blue-rondo-phase

For code snippets, my GUI examples of synthesis techniques are here:

sccode.org/bruno

The Formant synthesis one almost always generates some good laughs in
class. The Granular sampling and FM synthesis ones are also "popular" demos,
so to speak.

Hi Corey,

this spring Bruno Ruviaro asked for pieces for solo instrument + electronics
done with supercollider

http://new-supercollider-mailing-lists-forums-use-these.2681727.n2.nabble.com/Pieces-for-solo-instrument-SuperCollider-td7609151.html

Results listed here:

http://supercollider.github.io/examples/supercollider-with-acoustic-instruments-examples.html

Some pieces of mine with more (or less) than one acoustic instrument
are also done with SC
